APLIM APOM

Up in the mountains, in the middle of West Papua, there is my village. It is about 3750 Meters on the surface of the sea. There are many mountains and big rivers. If we go there, we will never see flat area.
The average temperature is about 25 degree or 26 degree. In the afternoon it goes up until 27 or 29 degrees, but in the evening it goes down to 23 or 20 degrees. Local People ( Ngalum or Kupel Tribes) said that it's not really cool but immigrants say that it's so cool and they never took shower for one or two weeks.
my village has now become a regency. Indonesian call it Pegunungan Bintang, but ancient people call it Aplim Apom. Aplim Apom are two mountains which stand beside each other in the middle of West Papua.Aplim Apom also means Puncak Juliana. Puncak Juliana is the second highest mountain in Indonesia. Pegunungan Bintang means star mountain ( pegunungan = mountain, bintang = star).
North of Aplim Apom is Jayapura City and Sarmi. In the east is Papua New Guinea and Keerom. In the south is Merauke and Boven Digoel. And in the west of Aplim Apom is Yahukimo City.
Star Mountain regency has about 15 districts and many villages there. There only 4 big district; Oksibil, Okbibab, Kiwirok and Batom. There are no big street that correlate to one and others districts. So, if we want to go to others district or village, we have to go on foot and it needs one day and one night or more to get there.
it takes a long time to go to another village or district because of so many hills and to cross many rivers. We get tired but are happy. After a long time on the road, we find many kind everlasting nature. We can see flora and fauna that we have never seen before. We can see many beautiful water falls and we enjoy with the fantastic expanse of nature.
